PINOT NOIR
Lo Abarca Hills Vineyard
This Pinot Noir is the Grand Cru of our portfolio. Lo Abarca Hills refers to the vineyards that surround the village of Lo Abarca. The best soils are found here, consisting of limestone with marine deposits. The vines, with their low yields of between 3 and 4 tons per hectare, ripen the grapes very slowly, resulting in concentrated grapes with a nice, fresh acidity. The wine is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel. Punch downs are applied three times a day during the first 10 days in order to extract structure, body, and color out of the skins. The wine is transferred to French oak barrels, of which 30 percent consist of new oak, after fermentation. The wine stays here for 12 months and is not filtered. When bottled, it is stored for three years in the winery to let it age and develop the complexity of a serious Pinot Noir with a seductively perfumed bouquet of red and dark cherries, plums, and subtle spicy clove notes on the nose. It is enhanced by an elegant and refined concentrated palate displaying richness and generosity. The complex palate is layered and balanced, complemented by fine silky tannins, all hallmark traits of minimalist winemaking.

SYRAH
Miramar Vineyard
This Syrah is probably the best expression of our terroir, coming from a truly cool climate. The Lo Abarca Syrah has a hard time ripening due the low temperatures and coastal fogs. This results in a wine low in alcohol and high in acidity. For Syrah lovers, this wine is probably an unexpected version of a Chilean Syrah. As Jancis Robinson mentioned, “I would hate to get this wine in a blind tasting, as I would put it more towards Northern Rhone.” There are very few Syrahs that dare go so far in their acidity towards an herbal sight of the variety, which is a perfect reflection of the Lo Abarca terroir. The nose is floral and shows red fruits and spices such as fresh white & black pepper. On the palate it is delicate, with elegance and a firm acidity, full of red fruits. A must try Syrah from Chile!
SUGGESTIONS
Serving Temperature: 15-16°c
Ageing potential: Between 5 and 20 years
Food Pairing: Great with Patagonian lamb or any other type of lamb dishes. Furthermore, the high acidity of this red wine makes it good with any type of meat dish that is high in saltiness.
